UTP (Unbalanced Twisted Pair) is a way of transmitting CCTV video signals on ordinary low cost CAT 5 type data cables using low cost Baluns (Balance Unbalance). C-TP range of twisted pair transmission products are designed for CCTV signal transmission over unshielded twisted pair wire (CAT 5 network cable). This type of transmission is an alternative solution to the traditional coaxial and fiber based systems and gives the following benefits; Fast, easy installation, saving time and money, substantial savings on the cost of the cable itself, superb quality on long range transmission.
Most new commercial (and often residential) building developments install CAT 5 data ‘’backbones’’ as standard for building management systems. These can be integrated TCP/IP or standard protocol networks. If there is spare unused cabling available, UTP CCTV systems can be installed without the need for additional costly extra wiring. Cat 5 cable is significantly cheaper than traditional RG59 and can fit far more conductors into a smaller space.
